Real Estate Tax Loss for Paraplegic.

This program provides qualified senior citizens and handicapped individuals get a yearly refund of property or sales taxes. Returns are calculated according to your earnings; the Special Tax Division begins issuing refund checks at the end of August.

Qualification Requirements.

Have to be at least 66 years old on or before January 1 of the current year OR handicapped (according to the Social Security Act). Must have been a South Dakota resident that the whole past calendar year. Must satisfy the yearly income requirements. The 2019 income limitation for a single-member home is 12,760; the limitation to get a multiple-member house is 17,240.

Qualification Requirements.

You have to be 65 years old or older OR handicapped (according to the Social Security Act). You have to have the property. Un-remarried widow/widowers of men previously qualified could nevertheless be eligible. Income limitations apply. This program is only offered in these cities which have passed ordinances permitting the reduction.

Individuals who are eligible for this program are ineligible for your Revenue and Property Tax Refund Program. Programs are available online or at any county courthouse beginning in January of every year and have to be filed annually to the regional county treasurer’s office on or before May 1st.

Qualification Requirements.

The house must be owned by a paraplegic veteran, a veteran with reduction or reduction of use of lower extremities or the un-remarried widow/widower of these veteran. The property has to be specially designed for wheelchair use within the construction.
